About:

For years, Miss Felicia Murdock's every thought and action have been
in pursuit of becoming a minister's wife. When the minister she'd set
her sights on has other ideas, she decides something in her life needs
to change--and soon--before she wastes any more time pretending to be
someone she's not. If that means spreading her wings and embracing a
more lively way of life, who's to say nay?

Grayson Sumner, Lord
Sefton, has had more than enough of spreading his wings and only hopes
to settle into the life of a respectable New York gentleman. Prompted by
some friends to lift the spirits of the disappointed-in-love Miss
Murdock, he is surprised to encounter an adventurous young lady with an
unfortunate knack for stumbling into troublesome situations.

Just
as Grayson decides he's had quite enough of her antics, his past comes
back to haunt him and his presence in Felicia's life endangers her. As
they work together to extricate themselves from this latest
complication, will Grayson and Felicia decide they want to spend the
rest of their lives keeping one another out of trouble?
My Review:

I was given the great opportunity to review A Talent For Trouble, Book #3 in the fantastic Ladies of Distinction Series by Jen Turano. After having read and reviewed the previous two books and loving them, I have been waiting for the next fun adventure. Once again Jen Turano has totally amused and delighted me. A Talent For Trouble had me smiling on the very first page. Jen has a talent for bringing her characters to life and making them seem like old friends. I love the way I was treated to the continuing stories of the much loved characters from the previous books. This entire series is on my bookshelf to be read again. I give this one 5 of 5 stars. Enjoy!
My review:
I highly recommend the first two books in the Westward Wind Series by Amanda Cabot . I took the time to read book #1-Summer Of Promise before reading book #2 Waiting For Spring. I am so glad I did because Charlotte's story starts in the first book and continues in book #2 as she is given a second chance at love. If you enjoy historic Christian romance and suspense you will love both of these books which I give 5 stars each.
The covers on these book are really beautiful and made me want to just right in and read. There is something to be said for a book with a pretty cover.

Description:
From bestselling author Kathleen Y’Barbo comes Millie’s Treasure, the second book in The Secret Lives of Will Tucker series, a new set of novels involving romance, adventure, and hidden identity.
Memphis 1890—Bookish heiress Millie Jean Cope is as clever as she is beautiful. Unfortunately, though adept at solving puzzles and cryptograms, she doesn’t realize her new fiance isn’t who he claims to be, but instead is a charming scoundrel. The infamous Will Tucker is presenting himself as a British gentleman, Sir William Trueck, though in reality he is a crafty criminal looking for a hidden map to a secret treasure.
Pinkerton agent Kyle Russell has been on Tucker’s trail for years. At last Kyle believes he has Tucker cornered, but he is uncertain whether the lovely woman on the con man’s arm is an unsuspecting victim or willing accomplice. Finding reasons to spend time with Millie is easy. Keeping himself from falling in love with her is another issue entirely.
A fun and entertaining story of how God can shine the light of truth on the most cryptic circumstances.
My Review:
Millie's Treasure, book #2 in The Secret Lives of Will Tucker by Kathleen Y'Barbo takes us on an adventure with Kyle Russell and Millie Jean Cope. About this book:

A cowboy who wants to be a preacher. An outlaw's daughter who wants to change his mind.

On
his way to interview for a position at a church in the Piney Woods of
Texas, Crockett Archer can't believe it when he's forced off the train
by an outlaw and presented to the man's daughter as the preacher she
requested for her birthday. He's determined to escape--which would be
much easier if he could stop thinking about Joanna Robbins and her
unexpected request.

For months, Joanna had prayed for a minister.
A man to breathe life back into the abandoned church at the heart of
her community. A man to assist her in fulfilling a promise to her dying
mother. But just when it seems her prayers have been answered, it turns
out the parson is there against his will and has dreams of his own
calling him elsewhere. Is there any way she can convince Crockett he
ended up right where he was supposed to be?

With her signature
blend of humor, history, and lively western romance, two-time RITA Award
finalist and bestselling author Karen Witemeyer delivers a Texas love
story sure to steal your heart.

My Review:

Once again Karen Witemeyer has written an entertaining romp with lovable characters who have a heart for God. I loved the totally unique way that JoAnna Robbins and Rev. Crockett Archer meet. Crockett is sure he knows God's plan for his life. He soon learns that God's timing and plans are not always the same, but are always the best. I rate Stealing the Preacher 4.5 stars and will recommend the book to my teen grand daughters.

Karen Witemeyer is a deacon's wife and mother of three who believes
the world needs more happily-ever-afters. To that end, she combines her
love of bygone eras with her passion for helping women mature in Christ
to craft historical romance novels that lift the spirit and nurture the
soul.

After growing up in California, Karen moved to Texas
to attend Abilene Christian University where she earned bachelor and
master's degrees in Psychology. It was also there that she met and
married her own Texas hero. He roped her in good, for she has lived in
Texas ever since. In fact, she fell so in love with this rugged land of
sweeping sunsets and enduring pioneer spirit, that she incorporates it
into the pages of her novels, setting her stories in the small towns of a
state that burgeoned into greatness in the mid- to late1800s.
Karen is living her dream by writing Christian historical romance
novels for Bethany House. Her books have consistently hit bestseller
lists and have garnered awards such as the ACFW Carol Award, the Holt
Medallion, and the Christian Manifesto's Lime Award for Excellence in
Fiction. In addition, she is a multiple RITA and National Reader's
Choice finalist. Karen is also a sought-after speaker for national
writing conferences and regional workshops.
Description:

When her friend vanishes from a cruise ship, reporter Darcy St. James
isn’t satisfied with their explanation that she simply left her job of
her own accord. Something isn’t lining up, and Darcy believes the only
way to find the truth is to put herself in Abby’s position. Within days, Darcy learns her friend wasn’t the only person to
disappear mysteriously. Last summer, a woman vanished under almost
identical circumstances.

Gage McKenna has taken a summer-long stint leading adventure

of the ships, investigating a troubling report. Something sinister is going on, and the deeper they dig, the more Gage fears they’ve only discovered the tip of the iceberg.

My Review:

To say I was excited about receiving my copy of Stranded, Book #3 in the Alaskan Courage Series by Dani Pettrey would be putting it mildly. Once again Dani delivered a 10 star book in a 5 star rating system. The adventure, suspense and romance of Darcy and Gage make this book a wonderful continuation in the lives of the McKenna siblings. I love how Dani weaves the characters in the previous books into the next book but also leaves us with a hint of who's love story might will be next. One mark of a good book is that it leaves you looking forward to the author's next work.

About This Book

Worlds lie between the marketplaces of India and the halls of a
magnificent country estate like Highland Hall. Will Julia be able to
find her place when a governess is neither upstairs family nor
downstairs help?

Missionary Julia Foster loves
working alongside her parents, ministering and caring for young girls in
India. But when the family must return to England due to illness, she
readily accepts the burden for her parents’ financial support. Taking on
a job at Highland Hall as governess, she quickly finds that teaching
her four privileged, ill-mannered charges at a grand estate is more
challenging than expected, and she isn’t sure what to make of the
estate’s preoccupied master, Sir William Ramsey.

Widowed and
left to care for his two young children and his deceased cousin
Randolph’s two teenage girls, William is consumed with saving the estate
from the financial ruin. The last thing he needs is any distraction

I spent a pleasant day reading The Governess of Highland Hall, book #1 in the Edwardian Brides Series by Carrie Turansky. Julia Foster is a character that has a great faith in God and a very caring nature. Having spent 12 years in India as a missionary with her parents has allowed God to mold Julia into a women who can be used by Him to minister to others. Upon her arrival at Highland Hall she soon has Sir William Ramsey's children, Andrew and Millie happy to have her as their governess. Sir Williams cousins who Julia is to also teach are not so quickly won over. Being a governess is a sometimes confusing roll, because Julia is not upstairs family nor downstairs help. Sir William is drawn to Julia and finds it hard to trust because of his deceased wife's behavior, but he finds Julia very easy to confide in.

The last thing he needs is any distraction
coming from the kindhearted-yet-determined governess who seems to be
quietly transforming his household with her persuasive personality,
vibrant prayer life, and strong faith.

While both are tending
past wounds and guarding fragile secrets, Julia and William are
determined to do what it takes to save their families—common ground that
proves fertile for unexpected feelings. But will William choose Julia’s
steadfast heart and faith over the wealth and power he needs to secure
Highland Hall’s future?
Description:
From noted author Lori Copeland (more than 3 million books in print) comes a romantic new story of God’s faithfulness when hope seems lost.
The three wily and beautiful McDougal sisters can swindle a man faster than it takes to lasso a calf. But their luck is running out, and they’re about to be hauled off to jail. When the wagon carrying them falls under attack, each sister is picked up by a different man. Unfortunately for Abigail, she’s grabbed by a twit of a shoe salesman, Mr. Hershall Digman. She steals his horse and rides off to the nearest town, not giving him another thought…until she discovers those secret papers in his saddlebags. Could Mr. Digman be a Confederate spy?
As if to prove it, the man who comes storming after her is no shoe salesman, but a handsome captain who wants his papers back…at any cost. And Abigail wants a ride back home. Together they embark on his mission, determined not to trust each other…or the God who won’t seem to let them go.

My review:

Wow! Sisters of Mercy Flats is a must read for all Christian book fans who love lots of humor to go with a great romance. I loved every page of this book. The adventures starts on page one and just keep getting better. I dare you not to laugh out loud as the story progresses. Just wait until you meet Hershal E. Digman. Thank you Lori for all the smiles and laugh out loud moments I enjoyed. I am having a hard time waiting for the other McDougal sisters stories. I would give this book a 10, but the book sellers only go up to a 5, so...

I give this a 5+++++ out of 5 stars. lol

I received this book from Net Galley and Harvest House Publishers for my honest review. I was not paid in any way for this review.

We had a much better blueberry crop this year and it was great to see my previous pruning has help this improve. Much more pruning to do on the back 2 rows. DH still has to cut the trees down that are stealing the sunshine from them. Tough job and certainly one I can not do. The trees are
on an incline and getting them to fall the right way will be a challenge.

I finally got our network and internet issues fixed today. I installed the new Airport and it seems to be working out well so far. I have been trying unsuccessfully for most of the spring and summer to get us up to speed. Having to unplug the router and dsl every hour does not leave much time to get my reviews posted and other thing taken care of on the computer. I have read many of my review books though, so playing catch up with my reviews, which have been written in my old paper notebook. Technology is great when it works, but paper and pencil work when all else fails. lol

I was thrilled to see my Davis and Farmer families, but three back to back trips were not much fun. Visiting John's family(Davis') is always emotional for me and the girls. Santana and Sara were able to go with us this year. Hope to have Savannah with us on our 2014 trip to the reunion. I cried when I saw my brother at the Farmer reunion. I miss him so much. We have not been able to see each other for 3 years. Time sure flies when you get my age. Hope to spend some quality time with my brother this fall. Which mean I better get my reviews all posted. I have learned that I can use my wireless keyboard with my iPod, so hopefully will be able to type them easier if I am away from home. Hard to tote a big desktop on a plane. ( I knew there was a reason I should have gotten a laptop.)

Enough chatting and on to posting reviews. See ya. 8-o
Description:
As the lone female in a houseful of men, Merrill Krause dedicates her life to caring for her family and their business, as her dying mother asked. Besides, it suits her; she's never felt like she fits what most people expect in a girl--she'd rather work with her father’s horses and assist with the ice harvest. And though she’s been mostly content up to this point, a part of her wonders if there will ever be anyone who will notice her amid the bevy of brothers determined to protect her from any possible suitors.
When Rurik Jorgenson arrives in their small Minnesota town to join his uncle's carpentry business, he soon crosses paths with Merrill. But unlike other men, who are often frightened away by her older brothers, Rurik isn't intimidated by them or by Merrill's strength and lack of femininity. The attraction between them begins to build...until Rurik's former fiance shows up with wild claims that bring serious consequences to Rurik.
Can Rurik and Merrill learn to trust God--and each other--when scandal threatens their newfound love?
My Review:

The Icecutter's Daughter is the first book in Tracie Peterson's new series Land of the Shining Water. I found it to be a wonderful mix of adventure and romance. I was quickly drawn into the story on the first page, as Merrill is helping one of their Belgian mares through a difficult birth. Merrill was described as a "handsome women" and not the typical heroine but Rurik was still drawn to her and soon sees her inner beauty. I also enjoyed learning about the process of ice cutting in 1885 Minnesota, which was something I had never heard of.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars and look forward to reading the other books in this series.

Description:
Once Upon a Prince, the first novel in the Royal Wedding series by bestselling author Rachel Hauck, treats you to a modern-day fairy tale. Susanna Truitt never dreamed of a great romance or being treated like a princess---just to marry the man she has loved for twelve years. But life isn't going according to plan. When her high-school-sweetheart-turned-Marine-officer breaks up instead of proposing, Susanna scrambles to rebuild her life. The last thing Prince Nathaniel expects to find on his American holiday to St. Simon's Island is the queen of his heart. A prince has duties, and his family's tense political situation has chosen his bride for him. When Prince Nathaniel comes to Susanna's aid under the fabled Lover's Oak, he is blindsided by love. Their lives are worlds apart. He's a royal prince. She's a ordinary girl. But everything changes when Susanna receives an invitation to Nathaniel's coronation. It's the ultimate choice. His kingdom or her heart? God's will or their own?

My review:

A beautiful romance that breaks down social barriers between Royals and Commoners. Once Upon A Prince is a lesson in getting out of your comfort zone. Suzanna "Suz" finds out there can be

"the right ring, but the wrong girl." Does God have a better plan for Suzanna? Sure he does and

she gets more than she ever expected. I really enjoyed this modern day fairytale.

My Review:

Talon by Ronie Kendig is packed full of adventure. This is a new genre and author for me, but I will be reading more by this author. First up will be Trinity, book #1 in the A Breed Apart Series, which introduces the reader to the world of military war dogs.

The suspense, romance and danger kept me reading long after I should have been asleep. With the unforgettable characters of Cardinal, Aspen and the "star" of the book Talon, this is a book and series for men as well as women and sure the please both. I give Talon a 5++ rating.

The Ladies of Distinction Series, Book #2

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Description:
Private Investigator Theodore Wilder is on a mission to find Arabella Beckett. But this feisty suffragette may be more trouble than he bargained for!

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Miss Arabella Beckett, defender of the down-trodden women of America, is returning from her travels in support of the women’s suffrage movement when she makes a simple offer of assistance to a young woman in need. But things go sadly awry, and both ladies soon find themselves in dire need of rescue. Arabella, always loath to admit she needs help, is particularly reluctant to receive assistance from the arrogant, narrow-minded knight in shining armor who shows up just in time.
Private investigator extraordinaire Mr. Theodore Wilder is on an assignment that began as a favor to his good friend Hamilton Beckett, but swiftly evolved into a merry chase across the country. He is already in a less than pleasant mood, and when Hamilton’s sister turns out to have radical ideas and a fiercely independent streak, he’s at his wit’s end.
Much to their chagrin, Theodore and Arabella’s paths continue to cross when they return home to New York, but the most unusual feelings beginning to grow between them certainly can’t be anything serious. When the trouble Arabella accidentally stirred up in her travels follows her home and threatens her very life, the unlikely couple must face the possibility that they might have landed in the most peculiar circumstance of all: love.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">My Review:

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I was ready and waiting for book #2 in The Ladies of Distinction Series, A Most Peculiar Circumstance by Jen Turano. I have read and reviewed A Change of Fortune, the previous book in series and could not put it down. Yep it was that good. As expected Jen did not disappoint and I found myself being totally amused by all the delightful characters once again, especially Miss Arabella Beckett and Mr. Theodore Wilder. If you like to smile, laugh and be happy when you read a book then A Most Peculiar Circumstance and the rest of the series are sure to please.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I really hope to be able to review book #3. Thank you, Jen. You are on my favorite author list. I give this book a 5+. (I wish the rating when higher)

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I received this book from Bethany House Publishing In exchange for my honest review.

I had lots of time to read while my back and "Marcelle" as I have dubbed my hemi-vertebrea has been giving me fit. If I did not have my spinal cord stimulator I would have made several trip to the ER already. I have been swelling up also which I need to get checked out. Sitting at my computer seems to make it worse. I have been taking some Standard Process products the help, but lying down seems to be be the best cure. Melissa is worried and want me
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">to go to the real doctor. I wish Dr. Boz could check it out as I can not find a GP who will take on a disabled back patient on Medicare. Well I have rambled enough. I am falling asleep sitting here.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Our out of town company wore me out, but we were so very happy to see them. Before I go here are the books I have read and have reviews for.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Good night, sleep tight,
About the book:
Settling into a
simple life in the majestic Blue Ridge mountains, Lonnie and Gideon
O’Riley have finally found happiness after the rocky start to their
marriage. The roguish bluegrass musician has fallen in love with his
gentle wife and the God she serves, and Lonnie rests secure in his
tenderness for her and their young son. A heartless ruse interrupts
their peace, bringing them back to Rocky Knob—and forces them to face
the claims of Cassie Allan, a woman who says she is Gideon’s rightful
wife.

As Gideon
wades into the depths of his past choices, Lonnie is stunned by the
revelations. She has no choice but to navigate this new path, knowing
that surviving the devastating blow will take every ounce of strength
she has.

While
Gideon’s guilt and his bitterness towards Cassie threatens to burn up
his fledgling faith, Lonnie wrestles to find the courage to trust the
God who brought them together in the first place. Will their hard-earned
love be able to conquer all?

Lonnie only wanted her husband’s love. Now that he belongs to another, can she surrender Gideon to a God with a bigger plan?

My Review

I loved Be Still My Soul, book #1 in The Cadence of Grace Series. by Joanne Bischof and was excited to also review book #2, Though My Heart Is Torn. Once again I was drawn quickly into the story of Lonnie and Gideon. I'll admit that at first I did not like the way the story continued but soon realized that God had a plan for this book and He used Joanne's talent as a writer to lead us "through the valley" He chose for the unforgettable characters of Lonnie and Gideon. It is always a joy to stand back and watch God work in the heart of a author to show us our way is not always His way. I look forward to where God lead Joanne in the next book in this series. This one is a keeper that I will read again. I give Though My Heart Is Torn 5 out of 5 stars.

SOMETIMES LOVE TAKES YOU ON AN ADVENTURE COMPLETELY OFF THE MAP

Mallory Hale's life quickly veers
off course when she falls hopelessly in love. After a whirlwind
romance, Mallory finds herself leaving the bustle and action of Capitol
Hill for the remote town of Moses Lake, Texas--with husband, stepson,
and a U-Haul in tow.

A sweet, mishap-filled journey
into marriage, motherhood, and ranch living ensues, and Mallory is
filled with both the wonderment of love and the insecurities of change.
But what she can't shake is the unease she feels around her husband's
new boss, Jack West. Jack's presence--and his mysterious past--set her
on edge, and when hints of a scandal emerge, Mallory finds herself
seeking answers . . . and comes to realize that the middle-of-nowhere
home she wasn't sure she wanted is the very place she'll risk everything
to save.

My Review:

Firefly Island was the first Lisa Wingate book I have had the pleasure of reading and will not be the last. I loved Mallory and Daniel's love story. What comes next? Total culture shock. You will have to read this highly entertaining book yourself to find out why. I have been in situations similar to Mallory, so found myself laughing out loud many times. I especially loved the growing relationship between Mallory and Nick. God does not take long to soften Mallory's heart to Nick. You will find Firefly Island a highly entertaining romance with a few mysteries to keep you guessing. Firefly Island is book #3 in the Moses Lake Series. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Description:
A Cowboy at Heart, an engaging Amish-meets-Wild West adventure from bestselling authors Lori Copeland and Virginia Smith, weaves a clever and romantic tale of new starts and second chances.
1886--Jesse Montgomery is beginning to feel restless. Though he's grateful to his friends Colin and Emma for helping him get on his feet again after a few bad choices and some hard living, surely the Lord doesn't want him to stay in Apple Grove forever. Doesn't the Almighty have plans for this reformed rowdy cowboy to build a life of his own?
When an unscrupulous cattle baron tries to steal Amish land, Jesse intervenes and is wounded. Lovely Katie Miller, the young healer in the district, attends to him while trying to guard her heart. This sweet Amish widow cannot risk falling in love with an Englisch cowboy, charming though he may be. And yet--she believes God has a life for her too that is more than what she can presently see. Could there be a future with Jesse only He could bring about?

My Review:
I highly recommend, A Cowboy at Heart, book #3 in the The Amish of Apple Grove series.
me you will have to read it. Fans of Amish fiction will love this one. I look forward to reading the first two books in this series.
I give A Cowboy at Heart 4 out of 5 stars.

My review:
Jennifer by Dee Henderson is love as it should be. I have read all the other O'Malley family books more than once and will also read this again. I was happy to finally read the beginning of Jennifer's love story. I highly recommend this book and all the others in the O'Malley series. They are all filled with romance, suspense and so much more. I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars for being the start of an A+ series.

Description:

Lucy Kendall returns from a tour of the Continent, her luggage filled
with the latest fashions and a mind fired by inspiration. After tasting
Europe's best confections, she's sure she'll come up with a recipe that
will save her father's struggling candy business and reverse their
fortunes. But she soon discovers that their biggest competitor, the
cheat who swindled her father out of his prize recipe, has now hired a
promotions manager--a cocky, handsome out-of-towner who gets under
Lucy’s skin.
Charlie Clarke's new role at Standard Manufacturing is the chance of a
lifetime. He can put some rough times behind him and reconnect with the
father he's never known. The one thing he never counted on, however,
was tenacious Lucy Kendall. She's making his work life miserable...and
making herself impossible for him to forget.

My Review:
Unrivaled by Siri Mitchell wa a very enjoyable read. I enjoyed being taken into the world of candy making, which was a totally unique plot line. This is a book about love and forgiveness. I found myself not being very forgiving of Charlie's father, who left his family when Charlie was only seven, which left Charlie with old wounds to heal with his father. Lucy was a very headstrong young women that I admired. This was the first Siri Mitchell book I have read and it will not be the last. I give Unrivaled a 4 out of 5 stars.

About

When a cowboy focused on revenge encounters a woman determined to distract him, there's going to be trouble in Texas!

Swept away when her wagon train attempts a difficult river crossing,
Ruthy MacNeil isn't terribly upset at being separated from the family
who raised her. All they've ever done is work her to the bone. Alive but
disoriented, she's rescued by Luke Stone...so unfortunately, there are
more chances to die in her immediate future.
Luke is on a mission to reclaim the ranch stolen from his family. But
the men currently on the property won't let it go without a fight. Luke
plans to meet up with friends who will help him take back the land, and
since he can't just leave Ruthy in the middle of nowhere, she’s going
to have to go with him.
But the more time Luke spends around the hardworking young woman, the
more he finds himself thinking of things besides revenge. Will Ruthy
convince him to give up his destructive path and be swept away by love?

My Review:
I have never read a book I did not love by Mary Connealy and her new Trouble In Texas: Book #1,
Swept Away is no exception. Ruthy and Luke are the perfect hero and heroine. Mary takes us on a delightful adventure that is sure to continue throughout this series. I love that we are "introduced" to the characters that will be in future books. Ruthy was most certainly "Swept Away" in more ways that one. I look forward to the other books in the series. Thank you, Mary for the many smiles on my face as I was "swept away" by Swept Away.

I received this book from Net Galley(ebook) and Bethany House (paperback) for my honest review.

Mary Connealy writes fun and lively "romantic comedy with
cowboys" for the inspirational market. She is the author of the
successful Lassoed in Texas, Montana Marriages, and Sophie's Daughters
series, and her novel Calico Canyon was nominated...
Description:
They left everything behind to build a new Southern utopia. . .
Colonel Blake Wallace has seen enough death to last a lifetime. Weary and disillusioned, he slumps beneath the weight of defeat and loss. With his entire family murdered by the North and his name appearing on a list of officers wanted for war crimes, Blake organizes a shipload of southerners who, like him, long to escape the horrors of war and start a new life in a verdant land called Brazil.
Eliza Crawford can barely remember the days of her youth spent in opulence and comfort at her Georgian home. She can’t help but wonder how different her life would be had she not met her late husband, Stanton Watts, a general in the Northern army. Now a war widow, Eliza is rejected by both North and South. Desperate to keep her marriage a secret and escape her past and pain, she hopes to start over again in Brazil.
But once the voyage begins, troubles abound. Dangers at sea and enemies from within threaten to keep Blake and Eliza from the new life—and love—they long for.
My Review:
Forsaken Dreams the first book in the Escape to Paradiese Series by MaryLu Tyndall is a book that has it all. It gave me a look at the mindsets of the people from the north and south and how they related to one another after the war was over. The families that were affected by the Civil War were not soon to forgive. Forsaken Dreams is a book that allows us to see God working in the characters lives as He causes them to be more forgiving of others. We plainly see that it is the internal character that matters and not the external. The book also gives us a look at the spiritual warfare that abounds on the ship and the strong faith of those who recognize it. I give Forsaken Dreams 5 out of 5 stars.
Description:
This exciting romantic spy novel from Roseanna M. White combines fascinating cloak-and-dagger secrets with a tale of love and intrigue during the Revolutionary War.
Winter Reeves is an aristocratic Patriot forced to hide her heart amid the Loyalists of the City of New York. She has learned to keep her ears open so she can pass information on British movements to Robbie Townsend, her childhood friend, and his spy ring. If she's caught, if she's hung for espionage…well, she won't be. Robbie has taught her the tools of the trade: the wonders of invisible ink, drop locations and, most importantly, a good cover.
Bennet Lane returns to New York from his Yale professorship with one goal: to find General Washington’s spy hidden among the ranks of the elite. Searching for a wife was supposed to be nothing more than a convenient cover story for his mission, but when he meets Winter, with her too-intelligent eyes in her too-blank face, he finds a mystery that can’t be ignored.
Both believers…and both committed to a separate cause. Will their faith in God lead them to a shared destiny or lives lived apart?

My review:

My praise goes out to Ring of Secrets by Roseanna M. White, which is set during the Revolutionary War. I was quickly drawn into the book by the main characters, Miss Winter Reeves and Mr. Bennett Lane. Winter is forced to live with her grandparents in New York City after her mother dies and
her father goes off to fight for the Patriots. She pretends to be a "flighty" young women with no opinions or beliefs of her own. She soon meets Mr. Bennett Lane who becomes clumsy and tongue tied in the company of young women. When he meets Winter he is drawn to her and not that way at all. He very quickly realizes that Winter is not what she appears to be even though she has others
fooled.
I enjoyed the history, intrigue, humor and romance in Ring of Secrets and look forward to the next
book in the Culper Ring series. This book deserves 5 out of 5 star.

My review:
Go buy this series!! I have read Submerged (book #1) in the Alaskan Courage Series by Dani Pettrey
and was super excited to be able to review a copy of Shattered (book #2). Both books are amazing and Dani Pettrey is a new author whom the Christian book market will be watching in the future.
I loved how you meet the characters in the previous books and then they each have there own love story in the preceding books. Submerged and Shattered have everything I could want in a book; a love story, mystery, murder and adventure. I'll be waiting for the next books in the series, as I am sure they will just just as much fun as the first two.
This book gets a 5+ of of 5. Way to go, Dani!! Keep them coming!
I received this book from Bethany House Publishers and Net Galley for my honest review.
(first chapter excerpt is up on Amazon.com)
Corrie Saunders grew up in a life of privilege. But she gave
it all up for Jarrod, her Army husband, a man she knew was a hero when
she vowed to spend her life with him. She just didn’t expect her hero
to sacrifice his life taking on an Iraqi suicide bomber.

Six months after Jarrod’s death, Corrie retreats to the
family home her husband inherited deep in the Missouri Ozarks. She
doesn’t know how to live without Jarrod—she doesn’t want to. By moving
to Saunders Creek and living in a house beloved by him, she hopes that
somehow her Jarrod will come back to her.

Something about the house suggests maybe he has. Corrie begins to wonder if she can feel Jarrod’s presence.

Jarrod’s cousin Eli is helping Corrie with the house’s
restoration and he knows his dead cousin is not what Corrie senses. Eli,
as a believing man and at odds with his mystically-oriented family
members, thinks friendly visits from beyond are hogwash. But he takes
spirits with dark intentions seriously. Can he convince Corrie that
letting go of Jarrod will lead to finding her footing again— and to
the One she can truly put her faith into?

My review:
The Widow of Saunders by Tracey Bateman is a heart touching book. I was a young widow also
so I could really identify with Corrie and some of the things she was feeling. I liked how this book
delved into the good and evil spirits and how the characters dealt with them. I could have easily fallen
in love with Eli as his character was develop in the book. He was gentle and kind and stood strong in his faith and beliefs, but he gave Corrie the space she needed to heal.
Tracey deserves high praise for The Widow of Saunders Creek, so I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.
The story line was unique and well thought out and all the character made for a perfect read.
I look forward to reading more from this author.
Description:
Every year, 30-40 young Amish men descend on the cozy
little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live
there for six months and receive "resident" status for the hunting
season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with brides!
Sarah
Shelter has lived in West Kootenai for the last ten years and wonders
if she will ever fall in love. Since the tragic death of her best
friend, she carries her memories in a jar along with the small items
connected to them. For just as long, she's also been carrying around her
emotions instead of allowing them to penetrate deep into her heart.
Now
she's met a kind and gentle man who may be able to break down the wall.
But can Sarah risk her heart to finally achieve her dreams?
My Review:
Tricia you had me hooked before the first chapter ended. The Memory Jar by Tricia Goyer was a very enjoyable book. I loved the whole idea of memory jars and thought it made this book all the more special in light of Sarah having lost her best friend. I liked how the reader is introduced to
Sarah and her best friend, Patty as children and then are allowed inside their heads to understand them as people. Jathan was an Amish "knight in shining armor" and Sarah soon sees him in that role.
The memory jar is about friendship, love, family and loyalty. I will be watching for the next books in the Seven Brides for Seven Brothers series. Tricia gets a high 5 for The Memory Jar.
